Have you seen this before?

Red and white red squirrels!

Many thanks to Fiona Clacher for some fantastic photos of some unusual red squirrels!

The photos were taken in the Cairngorms recently, and it has us puzzling over the white patches on the side and back of the squirrels.  Red squirrels have white fronts and often a very blonde tail, but I have never seen white 'stripes' or patches like these before.  Have you?  Please do let us know if you have ever seen anything like this, thanks!

Two squirrels in the Tomich area with prominent white tips to their tails this last year. One of them caught on a trail camera.
