Website wizards

You are all website wizards!

Many thanks to all of you who have used the site. After one week since it was launched, we have received many many records, requests for information and discussion on the forum.

The photo shown above was taken by Elizabeth Rowe.  This is her local Invergarry red squirrel who freqently feeds on her peanut bird feeders in her garden.  A big thank-you to Elizabeth for this lovely photo!  We would like more photos, so if you can, attach them to your records or just email them to Juliet.

Comments have been very positive so far about the website.  Most find it clear, interesting, user-friendly and fun to use.  However, some are having problems with the map system.  This is likely to be due to either a slow broadband connection or due to an old website browser.  Obviously, the better your broadband and more modern your browser the better!  We have found that those with Internet Explorer 6 (IE6) are experiencing particularly slow access.  This is because Ordnance Survey no longer recoginise IE6.

Keep the comments coming, it helps us to improve the system where possible, and please do keep on spreading the word.  Join the forum and we can then have some good discussions going about many topics.  All you have to do is register and off you go.  Here are some suggested subjects:

  • Red squirrel mating antics
  • Good places to see red squirrels
  • Places to do 'extreme squirrelling'
  • Red squirrel survey training

Happy squirrelling!
