These adorable baby red squirrels seem to be sharing a kiss
while hiding in a tree. The cute animals gave each other an
affectionate peck while on a branch five metres high up a fir
tree.
The intimate moment was captured by part time photographer
Sergey Bezberdy after he stumbled across a mother and her five
babies.
Mr Bezberdy had been taking photos in a park when some movement
in a tree caught his eye. The 33-year-old wandered up to the tree
and found the squirrels larking about while their mother was on a
branch below.
Mr Bezberdy, from Minsk, Belarus, took the photos in the
city's Gorky Park.
He said: 'I noticed some movement inside the fur-tree about 15
metres from me so I went closer to get a better look.
'I was shocked when I peered in and saw the squirrels running
about on the branch, at about head height.
'They felt absolutely comfortable about my presence and were not
frightened at all. Of course I was excited, we have a quite a lot
of red squirrels in this park but I have never seen little ones
before and so close.
'There were five little ones, with their mother below, and they
were playing just like little kids.'
Bezberdy added: 'They were so close and unfortunately I didn't
have quite the right lens but there was no time to change it. They
let me stay quite long and I got some good shots.
'After about ten minutes quite a crowd had gathered and parents
were showing them to their children. Then the squirrels scampered
off.
'Over the next two weeks I went back to the tree five or six
times armed with almonds but sadly they were nowhere to be
found.
'I guess it really was a once in a lifetime opportunity.'
